August is an '8' month which means that POWER is going to be the keyword. Power can be utilized judiciously or poorly. Looking at the Bush administration, one can see the abuse of power very clearly. But an '8' if you turn it on its side, becomes the symbol for Infinity but also about balance (think of it as a teeter totter of sorts...). An '8' energy uses Cosmic resources to right wrongs, to bring balance out of imbalance and to stop people who are doing things for the wrong reason and they get caught or imprisoned or both. One thing for sure, the bad people are going to get caught red handed and it's going to come to light, litigation and law enforcement will reign. The '8' is also politics and don't we have quite a show on with the present administration. When is the president's '8' arrogance going to be diminished? This is a month where more will happen and misuse of power gets reigned in. Hooray. It is also about politics and politicians, so expect the presidential candidates to be in the limelight as well. Dark horses may become power horses and front runners may start to fade in this month. McCain, for example, is going to have to fold his tent and fade away to a degree. Others may follow suit. The '8' energy picks the survivors and the weaker ones will fade. This is also a money month and '8' rules Wall Street. If things have looked too good for too long, expect an over due correction with the teeter totter effect of the '8' energy. As they say, 'What goes up, must come down,' and this is no different for Wall street and in an '8' month, you can see boom and bust occurring.

Be aware that Venus turned retrograde (and I did not do a July forecast due to my mother moving into hospice), July 28th through September 9, 2007. Venus retrograde means we don't get what we want--rather, we have to settle for second best. Of course, if you were born with a Venus retrograde in your natal chart, this is a time of plenty, gifts, good news and lots of chocolate! Further, if you are single, this is the time to meet the right person--so keep your eyes open. And, if you are married, your relationship has a chance to grow and become more beautiful and fulfilling on many levels.

For those who have Venus retrograde natally, this is your time to shine, to receive benefits, praise, and spend some money on some nice things for yourself or your home. The rest of us, however, it is a time of instead of getting chocolate, we get sawdust. It's not a time of plenty for us. We are going to experience disappointment and loss in love relationships. This is when divorces crop up, relationships break up and you go your separate ways. Venus retrograde always gives us a chance to either repair (that means growing up and maturing) or separate. It's always a choice and its up to us to make or break during this time period.

Venus is our pleasures, and they are going to be on the skimpy side all of August for most of us. There isn't going to be much partying, per se....rather, this is a time of hard, intense, focused work for the month. All work, little play, as they say. It's just one of those times in this year that we must do this. Most months have a little of both, but August is a taskmaster with little respite and certainly, not for party hardy types.

And, if you buy anything under a Venus retrograde--you simply will NOT be satisfied with it. Any beautification purchases (car, house, clothes, jewelry, electronics, ect.) put off buying until mid-September (after Venus goes direct). A lot of purchases in August will be returned--guaranteed--because it didn't meet the buyer's expectations along the lines of looking pretty, giving them pleasure or not performing properly.

The first big energy in August that kicks off is Jupiter going DIRECT on August 6, 2007. This occurs at 7:06 pm PDT. There is a separate article on this, so please go and read it to understand this large planet's ramifications in our lives. And then, at the end of the month, we get a full moon Lunar Eclipse. It's a sort of cosmic whiplash going on that lifts some and opens doors where skeletons in the closets and shadows come out to be dealt with, acknowledged and healed.

August first starts off with a bang or a shock or a lightning bolt with Moon conjuncting Uranus. Always, the planet of surprises keeps the day in chaos and things churning along in unexpected ways. Just be flexible and you'll do fine.

Speedy Communicator, Mercury zooms into Leo on August 4th, so this will be a busy day of travel, engaging in a lot of talk and your thumbs getting cramps on your Blackberry. This is a good day to make calls to your friends and do a lot of catching up that has been put aside until now.

August 6 is a big day in all sorts of ways. Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, goes direct at 9 Sagittarius, so this means people born around December 1-3 are going to be beneficiaries of some wonderful gifts or money. For those who are Wall Street oriented, if you saw huge gains under the Jupiter retrograde--when it goes direct (which is today), the deflation and downward cycle of the stock market will begin in earnest. You can see this happen at least three weeks in advance of Jupiter turning direct during the shadow period. So, hopefully, you haven't 'bought high and sell low' during this bubble. The economy is definitely going to cool down and inflation and poor house sales will continue for some time into the future. Mortgage lenders and those with the wrong kind of mortgages on a home they have bought, are going to be in a pickle. Look for a lot of bankruptcy coming with Jupiter turning direct.

And by opposite sign, those Gemini people born around May 30 through June 2nd are going to see plans or visions they have been working hard on, come to some sort of fork in the road and decisions are made. The news will be good indeed! And as if this isn't enough excitement for this day, Warrior Mars goes hard charging into Gemini, so these folks get a super boost from this assertive, take-no-prisoners planet coupled with the sprinkling of fairy dust from Jupiter. I dare say, all Sagittarians and Gemini's are going to be smiling before this day is over. And of course, those who have fire signs in their chart: Aries or Leo, will get wonderful news and goodies, as well. And so will the air signs of Libra and Aquarius. If you have any of these signs in your natal chart, that's where the goody basket will overflow and you will be a very happy camper.

August 8 continues the party like atmosphere started by Jupiter and Mars on the 6th. Today, the Goddess of Pleasure and the cosmic shop-o-holic, Venus, dances into expansive Leo. This planet loves this fire sign. Be careful if you're going to the shopping mall: you'll buy more than you intended and your creditors will be smiling. This is a great day to plan a wonderful evening of dancing, going to a play, an opera or ballet. Leo loves all cultural endeavors, all the arts and Venus loves music and dance as well. Plan an evening of culture with your favorite person.

On the 12th, we have a New Moon at 19 Leo. On this night, we also have the Perseides meteor showers so if you gave up at the sky, there's going to be a real Leo extravaganza up in the heavens; be watching. I'm sure you will be royally entertained. As for the new moon, this is a time of new ideas, development and awakening on many different levels. The aspects for the day are interesting with Moon conjunct communications expert, Mercury, and topped off with a Moon opposite Neptune. To put it all in a rather idealistic or romantic perspective, "Life is like a box of chocolates." There's a little of something for everyone on this day. With Mercury here, this new moon for the next fourteen days is about short distance travel, vacations, a lot of phone, computer and iPhone/Blackberry communications. This is a time of verbosity and for some, it's about bullshit rather than plain spoken truth. With Leo in the mix, embellishment and stretching the truth comes real easy.....so listen a lot, comment little and check out what is being said--do not take it at face value. With the Moon opposite Neptune, there's a laid back, philosophical and spiritual kind of cast to the day. Neptune is subtle, and people may be more introspective than usual, plumbing the depths of themselves. And this is fine; if we don't know what is inside ourselves, we never grow and mature. This is a fine day to be alone at some point (and not in front of your computer, on your iPhone or Blackberry) and just chill out. Going for a walk with Nature would be perfect; or a swim in the ocean, lake or stream. Maybe a little fishing. Or a round of golf. Anything that connects you back to the healing silence that Nature provides so you can get in touch with your inner being and hear what they want to say to you.

Never forget that the NEW Moon means exactly that--a new spiral staircase you get to climb in your personal and professional life. New things, new decisions, new ways of looking at Life, ect. are all there on our plate. Be aware that the next two weeks is a great opportunity to leap off the springboard and dive into something that is being offered to you presently at this special lunar energy time.

On August 19, Mercury moves into Virgo. This planet also rules Gemini, as well, so is at 'home' in the earthy sign. It means that we'll all start being more verbal or vocal with all communications devices that we choose to have in our lives. A short trip may be in the offing as well so have fun (or as much as you can because Venus is retrograde, so the trip won't meet your expectations).

The luckiest day of August will be the 21st with the Moon conjucting lucky and successful Jupiter. At the same time, however, Sun conjuncts Saturn, so I will say that on this day those who truly DESERVE a reward, will find it coming to them. The rest of us, forget it. Saturn only rewards those who have worked hard, long and shown tenacity and patience. If you fit this template, then Jupiter may smile kindly upon you.

The Sun moves into the sign of Virgo on the 23rd, so all Virgo folks should feel a real boost of energy, more hope, loss of pessimism, a reduction in worry and anxiety (which Virgos are famous for), and a general calming feeling wrapping around you along with a sense of more confidence. The Sun bestows all of these attributes to each sign as it moves through it.

On the 26th, we celebrate Women's Equality Day. Imagine if all women around the world were truly equal to men in pay, in respect and in rank/privileges. This world wouldn't be in the mire of mess that it is in now. So, let's truly celebrate women and that they deserve the same pay as men, the same stature and recognition as an male. When both genders are equal, there can only be goodness and harmony that will result. And peace for this world.

The Full Moon is on the 28th and it's a Lunar Eclipse at 4 Pisces 46 at 3:35 am PDT., It is a powerful focus and supercharged energy that comes flying loose at us like a juggernaut. This eclipse packs a wallop and is full of twists, turns, shocks and unwanted surprises. It is what I call an 'aggressive' eclipse and they aren't pretty. In fact, it's just going to get plain messy, so put on your dirty clothes and be prepared. The 'shadow' period leading up to this eclipse is even days before. Anything I say about it, below this, falls into that bracket. Between August 21st through the 28th, this chaotic energy is around. Mercury is opposed Uranus and so air travel and air disasters five days before this eclipse, are very possible. If you must travel by air, please delay between August 23rd through August 29th. Uranus rules airlines and flying, as well as tornados and sudden thunderstorms with intense and destructive lightning. It also rules computers; and if you don't want a meltdown in these time frames, be sure to back up all your work. Viruses on the computer are common under this scenario as well--make sure you have the latest patches from Microsoft.

Add to this lunar eclipse, emotions are at their highest levels because water retention within the human body (our own tide, if you will) are at their highest. When this occurs, there is pressure on the brain and many people become far more irritable, easily irritated, angry and emotionally explosive. Road ragers between the above dates are out in force; so be careful as you drive. To make things worse, the Moon is squaring Mars, the warrior and battler. People are going to be REALLY nasty in this period; so just don't take it personally and understand they've got a lot of steam to vent. Hopefully, not at you, but if it does happen you keep your cool and don't engage them. You will see a lot more murders at this time as a result, more assaults, more car accidents and machine-related injuries.

Pisces, pity the poor, soft, little vulnerable sign, already suffers deeply from shocking, chaotic Uranus moving through it. Now, there's a lunar eclipse to just add more screws to those who are already carrying loads far too heavy for them. Virgos, also, will receive the focus of this, as the opposite sign in this nasty lunar eclipse. And just to add a kick-in-the-butt energy to the end of August (or adding salt to our wounds), Moon is conjunct Uranus on the 29th, the day after this wicked lunar eclipse. This is no picnic on this day, either, and again, Pisces/Virgo people are on the cross getting crucified one more time. I think these two signs ought to take up serious meditation and yoga in order to ameliorate all this turbulent energy so that they can navigate it successfully (and they can). And then, as if the Cosmos has realized how much it has kicked all of us around, the last two days of the month are like silk; smooth, calm and peaceful. Boy, at the end of August, we need this! What a rocky month. But with it being an '8' energy, there are no sides to it. This is simply one of the most intense months this year. So, forewarned is forearmed! A nice one month vacation up in the Rocky Mountains, far and away from everything is my idea of riding this energy out!

THE TENOR OF THE YEAR: An Overview of 2007

2007 in numerological terms is 2+0+0+7 = 9. This is a "9" year coming up and the twelve months within it are going to test us all on some level. Why? Because a "9" energy is about tying up loose ends and finishing unfinished business. Iraq certainly qualifies. Bush has put us into a war that should never have been and now, extrication is going to occur much slower than we want. And lives will continue to be lost. And for what? The twisted, distorted and warped idea of Bush? What ashamed. There were those of us who protested from the first that we should not go into Iraq. Now, six years later, we are being shown we were right to protest and try to stop Bush and his hawks who wanted another Vietnam all over again. And interestingly enough, the same crew that was around during the Vietnam war were the same ones who triggered this one. Bush hid in the reserves in the USA so he didn't have to go to Vietnam. Too bad. If he had, he'd have thought twice about going into Iraq. What irony. With a "9" energy this is going to become a test of wills and whoever has the stronger one is going to get their way. One hopes the Democratic Congress gets a big set of cajones and gets the job done and gets our brave men and women out of Iraq and stop the needless, senseless loss of life.

On a more personal front, we are all going to be finishing up tasks that have been ongoing perhaps for months or years. This is the year where it will be put to bed and to rest--finally. It will require patience and if you don't have much, you'll certainly get more as this year rubs off against you.

And, "9" energy always means delays. So, expect them. Whether that means going to work, flying on a plane (foolhardy as it is), across town, across the nation or the world. Delays are going to be rampant.

On the high side of this number expression, it means we're trying desperately to reach into our hearts and to express ourselves through our heart--not our lower chakras where it's too easy to succumb to our lower desires and addictions. Compassion, human caring and being aware of the human condition will take front and center this year. Whether it hits home in your own family where you must become a caretaker for a parent or see the plight of uneducated children in the US or other countries, this is the time to volunteer to help. Or, at least be supportive when and where you can, if possible. This is a year of forgiveness not only of yourself, but forgiving others as well. And if you can't forgive them, at least start with yourself and Time will take care of the rest. At it's highest, unconditional love will be spread like fairy dust upon the globe. Many who have been striving nonstop to be heart-centered will finally receive that gift from Spirit. One that is well earned through constant, tireless, hard work and effort.

The tests and initiations in a "9" year are the most difficult to attain. And we will all be tested personally. The tests will come out of our relationships, our business partners or people we work with and the stranger on the corner, as well. In some ways, this is a year of constipation where everything moves more slowly than usual. And if you're impatient by nature you are going to bridle over the sluggish, almost blocked (seemingly) energy around you. Just know that these delays or slow downs are there for a reason.

A "9" energy is the culmination of the other eight numbers before it. Anything not learned in the last eight years will be served to us on a silver platter this year to work through and come to terms with. It is never easy nor is it usually painless, although I wish it were. We seem to be a species that doesn't learn when things are easy and soft. Only when pain is applied, to we change, throw out things that have outlived their usefulness and let go. Then, we grow, transform and mature (usually). And those that don't go through this process dig more deeply into hiding through their drugs and alcohol addictions, or try to escape by running away from whatever responsibility they are supposed to take on and assume. This is also a time of a higher suicide rate than normal because the pain may seem too great and people just opt out, instead.

On another energetic playing field, this year is asking us to be broad mined, not narrow minded. Idealism will take root more than before. And humanitarian giving is going to be stressed. This is a time of creativity as well, whether it means that you are finally going back to a hobby you once had but left because you were too busy, or new talent within you is going to take root and grow. If you've always wanted to paint, but didn't, this is the year to pursue that desire. Whether it is learning how to write a song, write a book, learn to paint, draw or play an instrument, go for it.

Volunteerism, an offshoot of compassion and humanitarian offering, is going to be strong and supported. Look to see how you can be of service to others in your own community. Perhaps you work behind the lines of a food kitchen, or help serve the poor during the holidays. The energy in the air is about knowing you are part of something greater and that we are all related and connected. It cannot be stressed enough that whatever you give out, you are going to get back tenfold by your thoughtful, unselfishness.

Think about being a mentor in your home town. You don't have to look far to be of service to others. Your knowledge can be helpful to those who are young and seeking help, guidance and support. Or become a Big Brother or Big Sister. Maybe spend an hour a week at a retirement or nursing home reading to those whose eyes can no longer do that. When you stop and think about these little things that can mean so much, I'm sure you will know how to serve.

There is going to be new seeds of friendliness and kindness spread across the world. So much of the nastiness, the selfishness, the lying done by so many, are no longer going to be acceptable. The "9" energy can bring back solid morals and values as no other number can. People are going to start seeing and 'getting' the broader picture of Life. Everyone's vision is going to stop revolving narcissistically around them and they are going to look around and understand their choices DO affect others. And so, we may well see a welcomed change in behavior from people and it's long over due.

Metaphysics or the paranormal realm is going to be even stronger in 2007 than before. In the writing and publishing arena, vampire books and anything on the paranormal is 'hot' but it hasn't crested yet. You will see even more books on the invisible realms and some very thoughtful, life-changing books from the non-fiction sector about spirit and living a spiritually fulfilling life.

Religion is going to continue to take thumping from those few who think we should all be like them. The "9" year offers a 'live and let live' attitude and respecting everyone's own unique belief system instead of trying to burn them at the stake for it as the religious right has done since 2000. Polygamy and Warren Jeff's are going to finally be going to court and they will judged. Religious males who have more power than most, will take their falls this year as they did in 2008. The Catholic church has been taken to task that many of their priests who are sexual predators in disguise and this will continue to pursued until justice on a higher level is served and the victims get well deserved remuneration.

There can be drama kings and queens this year that pop up from time to time. That is a poor use of "9" energy, but it is there and may well express itself. Bush is a certified drama king and I dare say we'll see more of histrionics and antics this year as the US voters demand he get out of Iraq. His tirades and hissy fits will continue. One hopes without too many taking him seriously.

There are going to be international as well as national social movements take root in the "9" year. This may be a particular philosophy or focus on some humanitarian efforts.

Be aware that if you hold a grudge or want 'pay back' or desire revenge that this is not the year to try it. A "9" year asks us to release whatever happened to us and hand it over in surrender and with FAITH to a higher source who will handle it, instead. We all get into situations where we do the right thing, but our dark twin would love to get even or do something to fight back. 2007 is not the year to go there. Instead, the higher energy of this number asks us to release it. Completely. To step back and step away from it. Let it go. And let the Creator take over and do what should be done. We cannot judge. If we go there, we are no better than before. This "9" energy is about FAITH and developing our faith so that we can let revenge slide and dissolve.

If you are holding on to a situation, a person, place or thing in this year--you can't have it. You're going to have to release it. Because, if you try to be a control freak about it, the opposite will occur. If you know you should move but you refuse too for any number of reasons, your house may be destroyed in a fire, a flood, a hurricane or tornado to force you to move. That is the kind of energy that is around, so don't fight it any longer. Just move on. And have faith that as you move, one door closes but because of your courage and blind faith, another door will open at your new abode or job. Faith and courage are huge in 2007. We need a lot of both. And they are there for us if we only surrender over to a higher power and ask for the help. We will get the support and help that we need--always. Those who move on this blind faith knowing will be richly rewarded in 2007. Those who do not are going to get ashes and a lump of coal in their stocking. As always, the choice is ours. We do have free will choice and if we don't always make a decision for the higher, greater good of ourselves and others, we are going to get a cosmic spanking we aren't soon to forget.

A good ending thought about what a "9" year is all about is: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." If you can live your life by the Golden Rule for 2007, you are going to be enriched on every level by the end of this year. Guaranteed.

And if you do not, then you will think this has been one of the most nightmare-like years of the last nine you've had to live through. For me, it's an easy choice: take the heart path, take compassion and be a humanitarian, be kind, grateful, gracious and thankful. These are all "9" attributes of the highest kind. The Cosmos doesn't demand perfection from us--only that we TRY to live up to these spiritual ideals on a daily basis the best we can. And everyone can do that.
