This is going to be a pretty depressing Happy New Year for everyone around the world. Epidemic flu may well on its way around the world, including the USA. Whether it's Chicken Flu or not, is the key question. Even if it isn't, there is going to be severe flu that can put a person within 48-72 hours into pneumonia. That is FAST. And it can be deadly--so be sure to get to your medical doctor equally swiftly to get help. There's a great likelihood that it is (and if it isn't, then expect 2007 to be the year this virus mutates human-to-human). There's a lot of energy pushing around presently and to come through the Winter and Spring of 2006.
First, Pluto is a degree away from our Galactic Center. The Galactic Center is the center of the spiral armed galaxy where we live (and we/Earth live on the outer portion of one of the 'arms' of this galaxy). Pluto is the God of Transformation. On top of this, Hades, the planet of "dust to dust" is opposite Pluto conjunct the GC presently. Flu epidemic is upon us in earnest and will only get worse in the coming months. This is a month of compassion and people are going to be asked to have patience. The question is: will they? Or will they devolve into their own selfish wants and needs once more? If they do, they are getting handed lumps of coal.
Venus is retrograde all month, so heartlessness is on the rise and people who want to work from the heart are going to struggle mightily during this time. It's hard, but not impossible, to stay in your heart. But the tests are coming like a world initiation ( To understand what this means, see my article on it at: http://medicinegarden.com/metaphysics/initiation.html). You will see divorces occurring, break ups or splits between partners. Anything having to do with what we like or love--can be taken from us. If we are in the middle of a pandemic, we will see, potentially, loved ones die. (Keep in mind, please, that our government in a worst case scenario says 207,000 people in the USA will die in a pandemic. Considering we're a country near 300,000 million people, that is less than one percent of our population--so it does NOT mean to stampede mindlessly with fear. Also, in the 1918 Spanish Flu, 500,000 people in the USA died from that pandemic and our population was nowhere near what it is now).
Venus is about our pleasure, what we love (person, place, thing, what we own, our jewelry, anything that gives us pleasure or makes us feel good) and what makes us feel good. With it being retrograde, we are going to feel without pleasure in the month of January. We will feel like we have been given ashes, not cherished gifts. Christmas wasn't very good, either and retailers are hurting financially because the economy has tanked--completely--and will continue too through this first quarter of the year. People are not going to be spending hard earned money on hardly anything that gives them pleasure--the poor and middle class are in dire straits with money, anyway and there is nothing left over for anything.
This is an opportunity to see what we really love and what is really important to love in our lives with a Venus retrograde. If we have loved 'things' and not ourselves, for example, then 'things' may be taken out of your life because they really aren't important compared to those you love/your family, ect.
Add to this mix, Mars opposite Jupiter--all month, with the greatest intensity mid-January. Mars is about our action/mobility/grabbing and going after what we want. Jupiter is about boundless something without boundaries. With an opposition, what we want is not what we get. There is either going to be too MUCH of something (think of record snowfall in the USA) or too little (not enough fuel heating oil/natural gas to warm homes). There is a contraction going on here with energy and people are going to be severely disappointed with the government, there is no money, the economy has tanked, and a Depression. It also means too much was promised (the largess of Jupiter) and the person/government, can't produce what it said it could. Empty promises. This is also a squeezing motion of Mars which symbolizes constriction. It could be less of something. For example, less heating oil, less natural gas, less gasoline for cars, less of everything for the entire month of January.
To add to the misery, Jupiter is square Neptune, and Neptune rules oil/gas, so I think you get a bigger picture here of constriction (less of some THING) going on here with fuel oil/propane/natural gas. It also means a lot of water and we're in the middle of winter, so this can translate into record amounts of snow fall (frozen water) all across the country. Water lines breaking from severe cold is another example. Neptune rules hazardous materials of all kinds, poisonous/toxic materials like chlorine and many other substances, could suddenly break free into our air (think of a train wreck where cars carrying this toxic stuff break open, releasing the poison into the air).
Deception, the 'shell-game', fraud, lies abound under a Jupiter-Neptune aspect and this is all month long. This is not a time to believe someone--check it out--do your research--pay the people who are experts, to give you an opinion. This is NOT a time to have nice thoughts that everyone is good, too. They are not and you could be a pawn used in fraud--with you at the losing end of this stick. The way around this aspect is to educate yourself, check with the professionals first and remember: if it looks too good to be true, it is. Do not sign papers under this kind of aspect because you can be signing away your rights that are really yours. If you're in any kind of legal dance, check with your attorney first, not later.
All is not bad about a Jupiter square Neptune. It can be an excellent time to meditate and go into our inner journey deep within ourselves. So, take time out to be quiet and still. If you quit talking, you might actually hear your own, inner voice. And if you do, it can guide you through this land-mine month with ease and flow.
The biggest red flag is Pluto heading for the Galactic Center. This means major chaos all month long and it will continue to ratchet up to a fever pitch in the coming months when the degree is exact. With Hades, the planet of complete decimation, in opposition to Pluto and the GC, this is a 'clean sweep' of everything that is not needed. If you want a good example of this in action, look at what Hurricane Katrina did to New Orleans--it 'swept it clean'; it destroyed everything. This city must start rebuilding, quite literally, from the ground up. Hades rules many things, among them, wars, destruction of all types on every level and a coming back to the essence of ourselves and what is really important (instead of what we THINK is important).
