LATIN: Magnolia hybrid "Monland' Plant Patent No. 6178
GOOD FOR: Healing the feminine wound (for both genders). For women, allowing them to get in touch with their true femininity and expressing it on all levels and in all ways.
DID YOU KNOW:
To say the least, you are a mental giant. You think a lot--maybe too much. Your mind is sharp, curious, quick to jump and make up your mind about something. You do very well in academic surroundings. And you're good at memorizing things. Able to learn in classroom situations, you are a "book learner" type. Verbal by nature, you can communicate well in speaking as well as writing. Your world consists of using logic and rationalization. A prove-it-to-me kind of person.
THE HEALTHY YOU:
You're a gut-hunch kind of person whether you realize it or not. A lot of your decisions are based upon primal instinct which may or may not even tweak you consciously. However, you're a wonderful amalgam of rational mind (left brain) and right brain (instincts and intuition) IF you want to be. If you are truly in balance, you become very "whole-brained", utilizing both hemispheres of your brain to a very high degree. Not only can you know the answer to an Algebra problem before doing the math on it, you can also do the math to prove how you know the answer! That's a pretty neat trick!
THE UNHEALTHY YOU:
Insomnia can dog your heels because you are the one that gets the "gerbil running on the wheel" at night, and you can't shut off your thoughts. They just keep rolling along even though you'd like some sleep! You can get dogged, stuck and very stiff-necked about your belief system. Worse, you will be arrogant about it and you're right and the rest of the world is wrong. It's "my way or no way...." kind of blinders-on attitude. The old saying: You are cut off from the neck down, implies that you allow your logic and rational to rule you and you suppress your emotions--not a good thing in the long run!

Stage 1 proving
"Goddess Energy"
Description: A dwarf Magnolia tree was bought by Mom and I to replace the Willow which was uprooted by the tornado last month through our canyon. Flowers are huge, white, fleshy feeling and the fragrance is heady, sweet and otherworldly. The blooms are as big as a woman's hand.
Date: 10-16-94 (Sunday)
Location: La Casa de Madre Tierra, Page Springs, Arizona
Weather: Partly cloudy, in the forties.
Other: Flower sat in the bowl from 11 am to 1 pm in mostly sunny conditions. 3 hours.
Astrological Phenomena: Moon in Pisces, moving toward full moon on 19th. Mercury and Venus are retrograde.
FLOWER DESCRIPTION
PETALS: Cinnamon (burnt sienna color) at base of large, fleshy feeling white petal. Each petal is oval shaped--much like a boat or oblong bowl that could contain something. It reminded me of a uterus or womb shape. The flower is composed of 2 smaller inner white petals, with 4 larger, inner petals and then 3 huge, outer petals that unwrap or unfold in a counterclockwise position to reveal the inner petals. There are like THREE sets of petals--3 outer, 4 in middle and 2 in the inner. Each is successive smaller as it goes to the middle of the flower. 3 + 4 + 2 = 9, the number of completion.
I find the 3 outer petals the largest and protective of the inner, softer, smaller petals. Each petal is oval shaped, deep, like a cup or vessel waiting to be filled with something. The petal feels exactly like a person's warm, smooth, soft skin. It is thick, tough and fleshy; although the toughness is not evident unless you try to pull the petal apart. Flexible yet tough. The brown/cinnamon base to each petal reminded me of being grounded or rooted deeply into Mother Earth; and maintaining that close contact with her.
STAMENS: Are long, cinnamon colored and surround the ovary, which is huge and egg-shaped. It looks like a bunch of "hair" surrounding the ovary. They are roughly 1 and 1/2 inches in length, all brown. The flower ovary (superior), reminds me of the ovary(s) within a woman's body.
OVARY: is huge, hard and egg-shaped. It is a bright green with scales and small black curls at the top of each scale which surround and make up the ovary. At the base of the ovary are the stamen, so the ovary is completely surrounded by this "hair." At the base of the ovary, it is black background with orange polka dots on it.
FRAGRANCE: Sweet, medium-heavy, heady--you can't get enough of it. It scents the air around the tree. Light even though it's a strong scent. A spicy scent.
LEAVES: Ovate or oval shaped, like the flower petals. They are shiny green on top--like they've been waxed and shine and glisten in the sunlight as they dance to the breeze. The under leaf is a dull green or brown color, FURRY like velvet, on the underside of the leaf. Not all leaves were brown beneath, about half of them. The rest were a dull looking green.
As the leaf gets older, it gets more hairy and fuzzy beneath the leaf. The younger leaves have a nubby velvet feel to them, not yet "hair" like their older counterparts.
The leaves hang outward and slightly down toward the ground. The tree's leaves remind of a showy, dramatic, flashy kind of tree.
JOURNEY
1. It is a female energy, a replica of the goddess in tree form via the flower. The ovary in the center of the petal is a woman's ovaries and the stamens represent the woman's fallopian tubes. This is a good essence for women with reproductive problems, either not able to get pregnant, or problems with menstrual or menopausal symptoms.
2. It is about the Unfoldment of one's self to their feminine center. This is for men who also want to integrate their feminine energy into themselves.
3. Reaching for and embracing the ultimate feminine, the goddess, the unfoldment of all that means.
4. It is the "ugly duckling" archetype where with age, the beauty becomes apparent (the ugliness of the leaves beneath and then the glossy beauty of the leaf above). Beauty unfolding as we grow older and the capacity to appreciate what we bring to the table at that time.
5. This is good for shallow people, (the glitz and glamour type who are into labels, the right clothes by the right designers, etc.) who live only in their actress or actor facade or face they put on to the public. They carry this facade or mask home with them and don't know when to lay it aside to become their true selves. It's to help a person who is always "on" or into "drama" all the time and cannot escape that conditioned reflex action/reaction.
6. It endows people with the ability to "shine" and to be noticed when they want to be noticed. Good for speakers, actresses/actors or anyone else who has a public relations type of job and you must present a pleasant face to that public. It will help aid this ability without it sucking or draining you of energy.
7. It will help a person ground into reality and stay in their body, firmly rooted with the energy of Mother Earth.
8. Will help those who are balding or losing hair (particularly during pregnancy and menopause) and can be utilized for men or women.
9. Will help get rid of extra, unwanted hair that may occur on a woman's face during menopause.
10. Helps women and men who are growing older and are having trouble coming to terms with aging. It will give them a softer, more flexible view of aging to do it with grace and surrendering over to the Crone and what belongs to her without a fight.
11. Brings a situation/emotion within ourselves to fruition.
12. It is the EGG archetype and all that means--seeds, beginnings, creation, babies (brain children, too), and becoming.
13. Accepting not only our ugly side, which many people hang onto, but also allows us to see our own, unique beauty inwardly and outwardly as a human being.
14. Getting in touch with ourselves to find hidden gems/creation of the self/or individual and giving us the toughness to not only protect that creative flame within us, but to nurture it and allow it to flourish.
OTHER:
While communing with the tree about her flower, Miss Amanda, my gray female cat who is 13 years old, sat on me most of the time. There was a Blue Jay around, squawking from time to time. A black ant came and visited me on my left knee--my feminine side. Boots, Mom's dog, laid nearby for the entire time we worked with the tree and never moved.
All of these things reminded me of the Goddess Herself--all her animals, birds and insects, and the quiet peace that surrounded us while we worked with "Maggie" Magnolia tree. It was like a small Garden of Eden.
As we completed our communing at the end of the 3rd hour, the sky began to darken, the clouds heavy and pregnant with rain. This tree requires a lot of water, so I feel this essence will strike the emotions squarely and emphasize them.
Also , the tree is strong and doesn't bend that much--it's a deceptive tree because it's so flashy, glamorous and beautiful to look at and yet, for all that beauty, there is a toughness to the flower petals that rivals human skin in tone and touch, and it's a lot stronger than it APPEARS to be.
RESEARCH
When I drank the left over water from the mother essence, I was filled with such a peaceful calm for the rest of the day. I felt more feminine, more joyous over my being a woman and reveling in it. My feelings became softer and I was more aware of myself and my feelings. There was a wonderfully warm, cradling, safe, protected feeling emanating from deep within me, and it made me feel very secure and confident about myself. A soft strength.
