RED CORN POPPY FLOWER ESSENCE

Red Corn PoppyLATIN: Papaver rhoeas

GOOD FOR: For anyone who has or is presently living in an abusive household. For children and teenagers who are dysfunctional and have a lot of rage that is being suppressed.

DID YOU KNOW?

You are of a deep psychological bint and very interested and curious about how people cope in the world. A high interest in the psychological underpinnings of yourself and others, you listen to your strong, well developed intuitive side. Absorbing information like a sponge you may not have to study a lot to retain it. Or, you may have some dark, staining issue/wound/trauma (usually subconscious) that is causing you to project onto others. If this is the case, then you need to take an inner journey of self-discovery to spot their Shadow contents (darkness), expose it, and then work through it and release it.

THE HEALTHY YOU:

You are a transformer and catalyst, first for yourself. Later, you may go into medicine, the healing arts or psychology. Other areas that interest you is detective, pathology or forensic work. Always fascinated with the human mind and emotions and how they work, your understanding of human nature is well developed. On the negative, because you understand human behavior to an advanced degree, you may become highly manipulative, or very good at being passive-aggressive.

THE UNHEALTHY YOU:

If your wound is not healed, you may think the world a dark place and be very pessimistic or hopeless in attitude toward Life in general. Consequently, your ability to listen to others is short circuited and under used. Your thinking processes may be highly self-centered and narcissistic, instead. The world revolves around you and your needs only. Very selfish thinking (everything is always about you and there is no sensitive or awareness of other's needs or suffering) is an earmark. Often, you hide your emotions. No one really knows what you are feeling unless you tip your hand. Then, you may become highly emotional and you choose not to use your rational or logical side of your mind (although you can very easily). As a consequence, you may become an emotional drama king or queen as a way to get what they want or to communicate your needs as a form of manipulation to get attention or what you want.

PROVING:

Level 1 Proving of Red Corn Poppy by MG (male)

A note to those who love flower and gem essences. Below is our field log that we use to do a Stage 1 proving. That involves only one person; the individual who has chosen to make a mother essence from a flower, bush, tree or stone that he or she is drawn to. Several terms need to be understood here while reading one of our field logs. We have a system of symptoms:

NS --new symptom; we've never experienced this symptom in our life.

OS --old symptom; something we've had before, well over a year before making this mother essence.

RS --a symptom that has occurred to us within the last three months.

US --unusual symptom; it would be unusual for us to get such a symptom OR the symptom would not come on at this time or without certain other criteria present (Example: When one is stressed, a headache comes on).

Name: Papaver rheos- Corn poppy, red

Also known as the "paper" poppy, the blooms last for only one day--but what a day it is! Nothing is brighter and more cheery than a poppy. Photo: Michael Grant

Date: June 27, 1998

Time of Day Picked: 2:44pm

How Long in Water: 50 minutes

Light: partial shade

Weather Conditions/Temperature: Dry, 80-90 degrees F., no wind at first, breeze picked up later.

FLOWER DESCRIPTION

1. Petal Color(s), shape, how many: Red, papery, half circle. Petals vary from 4 to 8. On the flowers with more than 4 petals, the extra petals are usually small and sometimes malformed. The veins of the leaves are more prominent and seem larger closer to the stem.

2. Inner color to petal: There is a quick change from red to white, though the area is quite small.

3. Stamens: Easily 100, probably closer to 200 stamen. light yellow filaments, gold oval anthers. They all originate from under the pistil, and they seem very crowded.

3b. Pistil: light green, striped ovary. No styles, at least not that I can see. There is a yellow design on top, which I think is the stigma. It is made from approximately 6 lines, they all cross over each other at the center. It is almost like a star.

3c. Sepal: not much of one, there is a tiny green circle at the bottom that holds the leaves together.

4. Fragrance: powdery, musty, narcotic? not a very pleasant smell. 5. Stem description: long, round, light green. There are stiff white hairs on the stem. The stem, when cut, exudes a yellow-orange sap that darkens as it dries.

6. Leaf description: lobed, toothed. Clasping. Alternating. Green. The leaves have some stiff hairs, but they are laying flat against the leaf so they don't stick as much.

7. Root: Unknown at this time.
